How are you doing on this journey to practice daily selflessness? It is hard work, and you may find yourself feeling like you are struggling to make any progress. Perhaps you’ve even noticed how far you still are from being selfless. Even so, God is not far away from you today. Listen to these words from Isaiah:
Isaiah 57:15 says,
“The high and lofty one who lives in eternity,
the Holy One, says this:
‘I live in the high and holy place
with those whose spirits are contrite and humble.
I restore the crushed spirit of the humble
and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.’”
Questions to consider:
Can you picture God, who is perfect and above everything, coming down to be with people who are down in the dumps, feeling sorry and defeated? What does his face look like?
An action step to take:
Ask God to renew you today and give you courage. Then, pay attention to how he answers that prayer.
Encourage someone at church today by reminding them that God is with them.
