1 Corinthians 1:22-25
“But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.”
John 12:27-28
“Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name.”
Reflection
Where do you feel weak and in need of wisdom right now?
Jesus was honest about how difficult it was for him to face the cross, but he was also clear about his calling and purpose. He offered himself to be used by God for his glory.
Take a moment to humbly invite Jesus to challenge your own wisdom about what life and success should look like.
Pray
- to embrace God’s wisdom and strength instead of your own
- for God to be glorified in your life
Jesus, at times, your death on the cross is hard for me to understand. There are situations in my life that are painful and difficult, and it’s hard to see how you are at work. Give us glimpses of your wisdom and how you are at work. May you be glorified above it all. Amen.
