Jobs For Life’s success is based in large part on “heart connections” that stem from meaningful relationships between champions (mentors) and students. Genuine concern, sensitivity and respect shown toward one another, as well as the willingness of JFL leaders and volunteers to receive something back from each student, contributes greatly to an effective, life-changing experience.
A champion is a one-to-one guide who…
- Attends each class with their student
- Asks great questions about how the course content is impacting their student
- Offers words of encouragement
- Prays about what’s going on in their student’s life
- Walks alongside their student as they become job-ready and begin applying for positions
- Attends JFL graduation with their student (and their family)
- Receives encouragement and life lessons in return from their student
Jobs For Life meets twice a week for 8 weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM. Champions are asked to miss no more than 3 of 16 sessions during the 8-week course.
