staff

Describe your role at WSCC.
As the Systems Administrator, I keep our computer network in running order.  On any given day, I might be updating computers, addressing the staff’s tech questions and issues, or getting a new PC ready for action.

What was your very first paid job?
When I was 15, I started working at Chick-fil-A in Arlington, TX.  We had the honor of being the second free-standing Chick-fil-A west of the Mississippi River (most are in shopping malls).  To this day, I still find Chick-fil-A's chicken addicting.

If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?
My wife and I think it would be fun to go to Vienna, Austria.  In addition to its musical and historical connections, Vienna is home to a large collection of ancient biblical manuscripts.  We've seen the old biblical manuscripts in Dublin, Ireland, and Champaign-Urbana, IL, and we'd like to continue the trend.

What book (other than the Bible) has impacted you?
When I read C. S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity in high school, I was amazed that someone could write with such perception and clarity.  It made me want to be a British scholar.

What’s your favorite season of the year, and why?
I’m a fan of cold, snowy winters.  I never tire of watching  the flakes float gently to the ground during a snowstorm or seeing a fresh blanket of snow sparkle in the sun.  Most people around here just think I’m nuts.

What's your favorite movie?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  (It really should have been his last crusade.)

Favorite Quote?
“A child kicks his legs rhythmically through excess, not absence, of life.  Because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged.  They always say, “Do it again”; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead.  For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony.  But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony.  It is possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening, “Do it again” to the moon.  It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them.  It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.”  -Orthodoxy, G. K. Chesterton
