Feed 500 was a success. Collectively, we fed 515 families this Christmas season, with food to last an average family of 4 one week. Below are story excerpts from Saturday's Delivery Day. Thanks to everyone who donated, sorted, and counted food. Thanks to those who organized, filled baskets, gave financially, cut ribbon, tied on jngle bells, and delivered to these wonderful families. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus to our Springfield community.
“Today gave me a fresh reminder that the church worships and serves in many ways (not just on Sunday mornings). Seeing such a huge group effort and unified purpose was a huge encouragement.”
“This was a wonderful, loving mission this morning. My daughter wanted to keep going and get more baskets to deliver. This was our first time and our hearts were filled with God's love and we were overcome.”
“Being God's hands and feet was a true Christmas blessing of joy seeing so many at WSCC work together serving others, and it was another lesson in humility and gratitude.”
“One delivery was to a well-kept house in a neighborhood which seemed much more affluent than the other areas we visited. The interior of the house was also much nicer than was expected. Without prompting, the resident explained that she was suffering from colon cancer and was in need of assistant due to mounting medical bills. Our conversation reminded me of two things; even those with few needs can fall upon dire financial times and require assistance from others, and even in the face of grave circumstances, God and the people around you can provide light.”
“We felt we were blessed to be able to contribute with our food and cash donation as well as being able to deliver these few. We feel very welcome at West Side and continue to be amazed at God's work.”
“My delivery experience was great. I know that these folks were in a hard position, but it was nice to see that we could give them some hope and a smile. Through people, God can uplift someone.”
